The West Catholic Falcons Varsity Baseball Team advances in the MHSAA District Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Comstock Park in the Pre-District action Tuesday afternoon at West Catholic.

The Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Matt Bilski singled to lead off the inning, stole second and advanced to third on a ground out.  With 2 outs Erik Bouwhuis hit a sharp single up the middle and the Falcons were up 1.

Comstock Park tied the game in the top of the 6th by scoring 1.

In the bottom of the 6th the Falcons scored 2 runs to take the lead for good.  With 1 out Matt Bilski singled for his second hit of the game and also stole second for the second time.  Tyler Hofmann then doubled on a 3-1 pitch to right center and the Falcons were up 2-1.  Mitchell Doyle followed with a ground ball single to left to put runners on first and third, Doyle stole second and Bouwhuis lifted a Sac Fly to centerfield for the 3-1 lead.

Hofmann and Bilski had two hits each for the Falcons, Bo Arndt, Spencer Vainavicz, Mitchell Doyle, and Erik Bouwhuis added one hit each. 

Gaetano Vallone retired the Panthers in order in the top of the 7th to record the complete game victory.  Vallone allowed 1 run, on 2 hits, he struck out 10 and walked six (2 intentionally).  

With the win the Falcons improve to 21-8 on the Season.  The Falcons travel to Davenport University tomorrow, Wednesday 5/30,  to take on Muskegon Oakridge for one 9 inning game beginning at 4:15.  Then on Saturday it's District Semi Final action against Catholic Central at 12 noon at Forest Hills Eastern HS.
